Help & FAQ
Everything you probably want to know.
What is a tOkn?+
A tOkn is a small physical coin with a unique ID. Every coin has its own page that tracks everywhere it's ever been. You carry it for a while, then pass it to someone else. That's it.
How does a coin find its way to me?+
Someone gave it to you — a stranger, a friend, or someone who left it somewhere for you to find. Every coin starts with a founder and gets passed from keeper to keeper. You're part of the chain now.
Do I have to check in?+
No. But if you do, you become part of the coin's story permanently. Your location, the date, and anything you write gets added to its journey. Future keepers will be able to read it.
What if I lose it?+
That's okay — it's part of the journey. Coins go quiet sometimes. If someone finds it later and checks in, the story continues. If it's gone for good, it lived a good life.
Can I stay anonymous?+
Yes. When you check in you can choose to appear as "a keeper" instead of your name. Your location is still recorded but nothing is tied to your identity publicly.
Is my location shared publicly?+
Your check-in location is shown on the coin's map and in its story. It's the location you enter at the time — not your live location. We never track you in the background.
How do I get my own coin?+
Head to tokn.au and grab one. You'll be the founder — you name it, set it free, and watch it travel.
What happens when a coin travels a long way?+
It earns achievements. Coins can unlock things like "Boomerang" (came back to where it started), "Speed Demon" (1,000km in 24 hours), "Ghost" (six months of silence then reappeared), and more.
Can I message other keepers?+
Yes — each coin has a Thread where all keepers can talk to each other. It's private to people who've signed in with a valid check-in.
Something's broken or I have a question.+
Email us at hello@tokn.au — we're a small team and we actually read it.
